How much will a custom website cost?
Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all with regard to pricing. We design websites based on each customer’s request and needs. Each website requires unique and different components and features. For example a blog website is very minimal and requires limited features whereas an online storefront requires much much more as well as complying with online payment security standards (PCI/DSS).
How long does it take to create a custom website?
The timeline for designing a custom website is driven by two things. The time it takes for the client to provide content in the form of copyright and photos and is most often the reason a website launch is delayed. The second is where the designer takes the customer’s ideas and puts that into something that can be seen live on the internet. A simple blog website shouldn’t take more than a few weeks, but a complex online eCommerce website with many products can take six to eight weeks to complete. Don’t worry there’ll be opportunities to provide feedback throughout the design process! We will not take your website live until you’re completely satisfied.
What is "hosting?"
Web hosting is necessary for any website to be able to be viewed on the Internet. It’s the physical location of your website. A web host is where special computers called servers are stored and house all the files that make up your website. With our hosting plans we store your website on our blazing fast and secure servers.
What is "maintenance/support" for a website?
There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes when it comes to websites. It’s kind of like your cell phone. It seems every time you look there’s an update that needs to be installed. Well it’s no different with websites. There are core updates, security patches, theme updates and plugin updates. They can occur at any time and often frequently. There’s also the rare occurrence that an update may conflict with something and cause the website to go down. What about revisions to website content? These all fall under the realm of maintenance and support.
Do you provide search engine optimization (SEO) services?
Yes, we will optimize your website for search engine optimization or commonly known as “SEO.” During the design process we will perform keyword validation for your business, index your site with Google, submit a XML sitemap, optimize page load and site speed.
Do you only do business with customers on Kaua'i?
Absolutely not! We are based on Kaua’i, but have customers all across the nation. That’s the benefit of the information super-highway!
Will I be able to update the website myself?
Yes! If all you want is a custom website design, we will hand over the keys and after a personally tailored training session (included with a stand alone website) you’ll have full control of your website. If at any time you run into something too big to tackle, we will provide assistance to our customers at a discounted fee.
What if I don't want to have to worry about updating my website?
Think of the term “worry-free” when you sign-up for a maintenance and support plan. We will handle all core and security updates, database and content backups, monitor uptime, revisions, additions/deletions to your content (depending on plan upto two hours per month included. Additional time charged at a discounted rate.) We know that your business takes up a lot of your time and you don’t want to be burdened with more work. Simply leave it to us and rest assured that your website is performing 24/7.
Will my website be mobile friendly?
Most definitely! More and more websites are viewed on mobile devices (over 50% in 2019) so it’s vital that a website is mobile friendly. In fact, Google has placed a higher value on mobile friendly websites when ranking for search engine placement. We will ensure that your website looks great on a variety of devices.
Who writes the content for the website?
Usually the customer provides the content. After all you are the expert on your business, so it’s best if it comes directly from you. However, we have a copywriter on our team who can help expand on your ideas or even come up with all original content for you at an additional cost.
How and when do I pay?
We require 50% upfront then either the remaining balance at website launch or you can split the remaining 50% into two payments (one halfway through the web design and at the website launch). If you are on a maintenance and/or hosting plan, payment can be monthly or annually (discounts apply for annual payments).
What is "Shaka" in your company name mean?
